Compounded is a daily browser-based word game that tests your ability to match words together to form compound words.  It is a quick and fun game, that is also educational, as you often discover words you did not know before.

How it works

1. THE GAME BOARD


You start off with a grid of 16 ‘component words’, that you have to match into pairs to form ‘compound words’.
All the words are matchable, but there are also ‘decoy compounds’, that are legitimate compound words that are not part of the completed solution.  You have 5 lives; wrong guesses and un-matches cost lives.


2. MATCHING WORDS


By selecting component words (in the correct order) you pair them together to form a legitimate compound word.


3. WRONG GUESSES


Wrong guesses flash red, and you lose a life.

4. UN-MATCHING COMPOUNDS



Sometimes you may need to un-match a compound you have already paired to complete the board. This uses a life.


5. HINT FEATURE


If you are stuck and want to see if one or more of the compounds you have already found are part of the completed board solution, you can press the ‘HINT’ (they will turn yellow).  You can then unmatch them, knowing that there is another way to pair them with a different component word.


6. COMPLETING THE GAME


If you pair all the words together, then you have completed that day’s game.

7. THE REVEAL 


  At the end of the game, whether you have completed the board or not, the words rearrange to display the 8 compound words that form the completed board solution.
